From Sondi:
Disappointing news – obviously, I did not raise enough money from my 50/50 drawing (which will conclude Friday, May 1; probably draw the following day at the store that sold the most tickets - the money will still go to my preparation to race at Indy) or find a sponsor to race the Kansas Pro Series race so I don’t get to race in the Freedom 100.  I met with the two top Indy Pro Series directors last week in hopes that they would stick to the original deal that I only needed a refresher course since I did well testing those cars & and have valuable racing experience, wins & championships.  Unfortunately for me, they are not making any exceptions to their new rule change they recently implemented – no rookie can race at Indy unless they race the Kansas race prior.  So, with the help of Herm Haffner and NineTwelve, I’m already working towards obtaining a partner/sponsor for next season!  In the meantime, I’ll race the 3 midget races at the Indianapolis Speedrome (5/3, 31 & 7/19) in Tom Hayworth’s 61 car and also 3 sprint car races - May 17 Winchester, May 20th Anderson in Marv Carman/Wayne Stickney’s Wing sprint car and then the famous Little 500 on 5/23.  After that we’ll evaluate where we are and see if we can continue – hopefully we’ll have a sponsor jump on board and we can run the full season!  We started the season at Salem Speedway last weekend but didn’t get to race because the car went up in flames in a fuel fire during practice.  Burned all the lines/hoses but they’ll have it ready for Winchester.

Community/Sports News:
For the last three years, I have been blessed to coach an amazing group of girls at Northridge Middle School.  Several of the girls from the team: Danielle, Maddie, Hannah, Macy, Hayden, Paytin, Kiersten & Becka surprised me with an envelope of money that they had raised to help me pursue my racing career.  I had no idea what they were doing - they took this past beautiful Saturday and selflessly worked hard washing cars.  I am so touched and grateful for the effort they put forth – THANK YOU girls and to the people who participated in the car wash.  They exemplify what this community has pushed: “Character Counts”.  They are winners in the community, in the class room, at home, and they are winners on the court.  I wish I was a good writer to express how special these girls are and how proud I am of them.  They have great futures ahead of them, not only at NMHS, but in college and beyond.
